You are looking at this book asking yourself if you really need it? Probably you have been suffering from bladder control problems for the last month, year, since your children were born, perhaps longer. You were told that it is a part of being a woman, a price you must pay for having children and going through labor, that it is a normal part of aging. You have mentioned it to your doctor but did not have your questions really answered. You were afraid to do anything about it and tried to live with it. You are like many of the patients who eventually make it to my clinic—women who want something to be done about their bladder control.

This book will provide you with answers to questions women ask me everyday. Reading this book, you will know your anatomy better, you will understand how the bladder works and what can go wrong. You will know how to choose the right professional specialist who can diagnose, evaluate, and treat your problem. You will be able to prepare yourself better for the visit at the doctor’s office and to take the first steps to a cure by changing your daily habits and starting exercising your pelvic floor muscles. You will be able to decide if you need to be treated and what treatments are available. You will take control over your bladder and your life.

I was lucky to be able to travel a lot during my medical training. I was trained in Israel, England, and the United States. After being certified as a urologist I spent 3 years joining the top professionals in the field. I saw that there are many questions and answers to bladder control issues.

Bladder control problems are treated differently in different countries. And different countries differ not only in their professional way of looking at the problem; women relate to their bladder control problems differently. They use a different vocabulary to describe their symptoms. In England, women count the times they “spend a penny”, since access to the public toilet used to cost a penny in the old days. Women complain they cannot complete a 9-hole golf course in Florida, or that they have to know where all the nearby fast food restaurants are located in a certain area because of their easy access to a restroom.

One of the things these women have in common are: bladder control problems.  Such problems are prevalent throughout the world. Women all over the world feel uncomfortable, distressed, and isolated when bladder control problems arise. Still, many are too embarrassed to talk about it, to learn more about their problem, or look for a solution.

This book is for you. Read it, use it, and you will solve your bladder control problem.
